Sign a PDF online, without uploading it
Open your PDF below, choose Sign, then type your name or draw your signature with a mouse, trackpad or finger and place it on the page. Everything happens in your browser; the document is never sent to a server.
This adds a visual signature, an image of your signature on the page. It is not a certificate-based digital signature.

Questions
Plain answers
What this tool does, and what it does not.
Is this a legally valid electronic signature?
Quire places a visual mark on the page. Many everyday documents only ask for that, but it is not a certificate-based digital signature, it does not lock the document, and it does not prove who signed it. If the recipient asks for a verified e-signature or a digital ID, use a service that provides one.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The page and its PDF engine (Mozilla’s PDF.js) load from quireapps.com, and after that your file is opened, edited and saved inside your browser tab. The file is never sent to a server, and there is no analytics or tracking on this page. You can check this yourself in your browser’s developer tools under Network.
Can I reuse my signature next time?
If you leave “Save signature” ticked, the signature is stored in this browser’s local storage on this device so it appears in the Sign menu next time. It is never uploaded. Untick the box to keep nothing, or delete saved signatures from the Sign menu.
Can I sign on a phone or tablet?
Yes, you can draw with a finger. The editor is built for larger screens, though, so a computer is more comfortable for placing a signature precisely.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It is free, with no account, no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. Files can be up to 100 MB.
Does Quire keep a copy of my file?
No. The document exists only in the open tab. If you close or reload the tab, unsaved edits are gone, so use Save a copy when you are done. The only things the page stores in your browser are your light or dark theme choice and, if you tick “Save signature”, the signatures you chose to reuse.
Which browsers does it work in?
It is tested in Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome and Edge. It is built on PDF.js, which also runs in current Firefox and Safari, but those have had less testing here. In Chrome and Edge, Save a copy lets you pick where the file goes; in other browsers it downloads.
